Medica Kosova welcomes sentence of Karadzic and expresses disappointment about release of Seselj

Although 8 years since the arrest of the criminal Radovan Karadzic passed, and only 10 days from the announcement of his sentence by Hague Tribunal to 40 years of imprisonment, Medica Kosova recalls the time when Karadzic was arrested and a request for treating sexual violence as a separate part in the indictment against Karadzic was sent to the Chief Prosecutor of ICTY Mr. Serge Brammertz.

Since that time Medica Kosova explained to the Chief Prosecutor Brammertz about the severe psychological situation of women from Bosnia and Kosovo because of sexual violence experienced during the war and the importance of treating rape charges as a specific part of the indictment that would strengthen the faith of these women in international justice.

Medica Kosova welcomes the 40 years of sentence announced against Radovan Karadzic for the crimes committed against the civilian population in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the 1992-1995 war and expresses deep disappointment of civilians not only from Bosnia but also from Kosovo and Croatia regarding the release of Vojislav Seselj from all charges of war crimes by the Tribunal in Hague.

Innocent civilians still waiting to recover from the consequences of war in former Yugoslav countries expect from Chief Prosecution in Hague to appeal against such decision and bring Vojislav Seselj back to Hague to receive punishment for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
