Municipality of Gjakova receives the Dairy Plant delivered by Medica Kosova
Medica Kosova as an implementing organization and the owner of the Dairy Plant constructed in the village of Brekoc, officially delivered it to Municipality of Gjakova on 01 December 2016 to offer it for use and functionalize for the purpose of producing milk products. In this regard, the organization also delivered the parcel of land offered for use for this particular project by Municipality of Gjakova.
The Dairy Plant with a size of 500m2 and with complete cheese and yoghurt production line was constructed in 2010 with the funding of Federal German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) provided through the international organization “medica mondiale e.V” based in Germany.
In absence of sufficient financial means for completing the final machinery works and putting it into function, Medica Kosova submitted over 15 project proposals to different international donors since 2011 for the purpose of benefiting war-affected women widows in Gjakova region. Unfortunately, all the proposals were refused based on the assumptions that this project has unresolved ownership issues despite the available documentation that makes the organization Medica Kosova an eligible project carrier and owner of the Dairy and the assets inside the plant.
Dealing with impossible efforts to raise funds and make the Dairy functional, Medica Kosova took the initiative to deliver the plant and all the assets purchased by the donation of the German Government and those secured by the organization from other institutional and private donors.
Medica Kosova was pleased to meet the readiness of Municipality of Gjakova and the cooperation of the organization medica mondiale and conclude the official delivery of the plant, the land and the assets in beginning of this December in a good maintaining condition thanks to self-investment and payment of security guards since January 2012 with its own membership fees.
Medica Kosova is convinced that Municipality of Gjakova as the present owner of the Dairy Plant will be able to make it functional for the benefit of the citizens of Gjakova with special focus for the women as primary proposed beneficiaries of this project.
